TikTok Ads needs an identity to run ads

An identity is the account name and profile picture an ad shows. Adplane builds TikTok ads as Spark Ads, which run under a real TikTok account: one linked to your ad account, one authorized through your Business Center, or a creator's account when the creator authorized a post for you.

A custom identity is a name and picture with no TikTok account behind it. TikTok no longer runs new ads with one on placements that include TikTok. An ad account with only custom identities gets this note instead: "Only custom identities are available. TikTok no longer lets new ads with a custom identity run on placements that include TikTok (only Pangle and Global App Bundle); to advertise on TikTok itself, link a TikTok account to the ad account in TikTok Ads Manager for Spark Ads."

   Link a TikTok account

   In TikTok Ads Manager, open the ad account's identities and link the TikTok account you want the ads to run under.

   Ask again

   Go back to your chat and ask your assistant to list your TikTok identities. The linked account is there now, ready for the ad.

To run a creator's post instead, ask the creator for the post's authorization code and give it to your assistant.

If an identity exists but TikTok says it cannot run ads, the message names its status, or says it is a government, politician or political party account, which cannot run Spark Ads. Those are settled with TikTok, not in Adplane.
